🌱🌸 Celebrating the first signs of Spring

Hey, there!

Are you seeing signs of spring in your neck of the woods?

It felt like winter was never going to end, and then one day, I noticed I could hear the frogs croaking while I was throwing the ball for my dog at the park.

Then I realized the birds were going wild, chirping and singing in the woods.

And then I started to notice flowers emerging. Last fall, we had to tear out two dead bushes from our front yard, and planted dozens of daffodils and tulips. The flower bulbs have started to form and we're days away from seeing them bloom!

Plus, my allergies have been acting up, which means only one thing...spring is almost here.

I love marking the changing seasons by shifting my energy and focus. It sounds funny at first, but really, you probably already do some of this!

Do you ever get an urge to declutter or clean this time of year?

The spring cleaning energy is real.

Our ancestors have used this time to open the windows, beat the dust out of the rugs, and give everything a deep scrub. We can't help but feel it!

We often find ourselves itching to get outside, wanting to move our bodies, try something new, and take in the spring color.

If you're feeling any of this energy, I encourage you to embrace it!

  • Plant a garden
  • Go for a walk
  • Explore the forest for tender buds and new growth
  • Listen to the birds and frogs
  • Declutter a crammed drawer or closet
  • Give your house a good dusting
  • Plan a trip or a project

This is also a fantastic time to set resolutions or goals, if you haven't already. I usually do this around the winter solstice. Since many of us feel drained during the winter, it can be more effective to do it in the spring instead when our energy returns.

I have lots more tips and strategies for you to make the most of this exciting spring energy and enthusiasm! Learn more about Embracing Slow Living in Spring by reading this post.

Spring Recipes to Try

I can't help but find myself craving freshness. I want bright, cheerful flavors. While we wait for strawberry season to start here, I'm still enjoying lots of fresh lemons and summer berries I froze last year. I'm about to start planting in the garden, and am looking forward to fresh greens and herbs again.

Which spring flavors do you look forward to the most?

When food becomes inaccessible, we tend to enter into panic mode, which permeates into every part of our lives. Spreading fear is...

Hi, Reader, When I first started blogging years and years ago, I learned how easy it was to make most of the products we use on a regular basis. Homemade lip balm? Easy. Toothpaste? Done. Deodorant? Surprisingly easy. Once I realized how I could take a few simple ingredients and turn them into something else, I was hooked. Not only did it feel good to make something I previously had to buy, but I also quickly saw how affordable it could be. Now, I'll be the first to admit that there are some...
