Hi, Reader, How's your week been? It's been WILD over here. I just sent out the Spring issue of The Handmade Year a few days ago, and then setup my new booth at a local antique mall! Want to see some pics? For The Handmade Year, I wanted it to be a pure celebration of Spring with lots of strawberries, rhubarb, and herbs. I'm so happy with how this issue turned out, and absolutely loved making these recipes. I'll be bringing some with me to Easter celebrations this weekend, too! For the booth, I kept the original wallpaper, but we really made it rich and cozy with a dark, dark green paint on the bottom of the walls, lush green velvet curtains, and even a fireplace mantle. I wanted to make it feel like a "library of curiosities" and still have so much to do, but this is a good launching point! BOOTH REVEAL! I'm not totally done, but it's ready for visitors! I really wanted to give that "library of curiosities" vibe and think I may have done that. Come check it out! Head upstairs to the second floor at Olde Central Antique Mall and take a right. You'll see it at the end of the hallway. Hope to see you there sometime! #portorchard #kitsapcounty #antiques #antiquemall #bremerton Now it's time to rest and reset the disaster zone that is my house (currently an antique processing facility). ๐ Lemon Recipes ๐One of my FAVORITE ingredients to work with is fresh lemons. That tart-and-sweet flavor combination is so refreshing, and they always make me think of Spring! There are two BRAND NEW recipes in here, too. Hi, Reader, After teaching myself to garden over 12 years ago, there is one type of plant I wish I'd planted earlier - fresh herbs. ๐ฟ I was working at a farmers market at the time, and I was way more interested in vegetables. I wanted heaps of tomatoes, zucchini, onions, and more. If I grew any herbs, it was usually basil or cilantro to use in pesto and salsa. This wasn't a bad idea in any way. I was growing what I knew I would use and enjoy! But here's the thing...herbs can shift how you use...
Hi, Reader, Happy Saturday! How has your week been? I'm exhaling a massive sigh of relief. If you've been following me for a while, you know I do vintage shows and sell antiques at two antique malls. Last week, I did my first show at The Great Junk Hunt. SO MUCH WORK. We've never refinished so much furniture and we truly pushed the limits of our abilities (maybe a little too far). The show went really well, though, and I met lots of great customers and vendors! But this week has all been...
Hi, Reader, If you ever need a dessert quickly, blondies and brownies are my go-to. One bowl, throw it together, then bake! They're great warm on their own, with ice cream for special occasions, or even just standing over the kitchen sink for a quick snack. P.S. All of my blondies recipes are formulated for 8x8 square metal pans, BUT you can double them to make enough for a 9x13 metal pan. This is really handy if you're making a bunch for a party or something!PRO TIP: If the batter is a...
