๐Ÿ‘€ A Peek Behind the Scenes

Hi, Reader,

Life has been especially busy and hectic lately, and mostly in good ways!

I'm putting the final touches on The Handmade Year, so my fridge is FULL of delicious treats that I can't wait to share with you.

It has been especially hard to find *any* fresh rhubarb in my neck of the woods, but it is not a Spring magazine without rhubarb (plus lots of strawberries, fresh herbs, and more).

I just have a few more projects to shoot and some final details to wrap up, and I'll be publishing it shortly!

Expanding My Vintage Business

At the same time, I'm also prepping to set up my second booth at a local antique mall. I've been in another mall since last May, which is when it opened.

This "new" one has been an antique mall for 40+ years in a 100-year-old building. One of my vendor friends has been there for 18 years, and highly recommends it.

It's been such a fun, creative pursuit to image a new space and how to make it my own. We've been looking at paint colors and sourcing heavily every weekend to find just the right pieces.

My official move-in date is Wednesday, April 1st, so it's all coming up very quickly.

It's been funny working on both of these projects over the last couple of weeks. The types of "work" I do are so far outside the norm of what other people do...and it feels good to live a creative life.

This isn't what my life looked like 5 years ago, but if you were to ask little Rachael what she thought about how I live now, I know she'd be excited. I get to make, create, combine, test, and explore everyday!

If you want to get your hands dirty this weekend and make a few things, here are some recipes/projects to try. Enjoy!

Hi, Reader, If you ever need a dessert quickly, blondies and brownies are my go-to. One bowl, throw it together, then bake! They're great warm on their own, with ice cream for special occasions, or even just standing over the kitchen sink for a quick snack. P.S. All of my blondies recipes are formulated for 8x8 square metal pans, BUT you can double them to make enough for a 9x13 metal pan. This is really handy if you're making a bunch for a party or something!PRO TIP: If the batter is a...

Hi, Reader, Are you trying to be more hands-on in your kitchen? Sometimes we call it self-sufficiency, which it is in a way. Sometimes we call it being frugal, which it can be (not always). But for me, I always see it as a chance for creative expression. I really think that's one of the things that separates me from other bloggers and content creators. I'm not all about the cheapest of everything ever (for better or worse), and I still layer in and practice many, many old-fashioned skills....

Hi, Reader, How's your week been? It's been WILD over here. I just sent out the Spring issue of The Handmade Year a few days ago, and then setup my new booth at a local antique mall! Want to see some pics? For The Handmade Year, I wanted it to be a pure celebration of Spring with lots of strawberries, rhubarb, and herbs. I'm so happy with how this issue turned out, and absolutely loved making these recipes. I'll be bringing some with me to Easter celebrations this weekend, too! For the booth,...
