✨ Raspberry Crumble Bars + the THY Summer Issue!

Hi, Reader!

Happy 4th of July! I'm sure your weekend is packed with festivities, but I wanted to pop in to share a couple of NEW things with you.

First, I have a new recipe on the blog! It's been such a hectic year that this is the first recipe I've published in like months...

But, it's one I love, love, love.

These raspberry crumble bars are the perfect berry-packed, not-too-sweet treat I love this time of year. We gladly eat them on their own, but they're also great with a scoop of ice cream!

I even dropped off deliveries with some friends, and instantly got text messages raving about them. That's usually a good sign!

🌻NEW! Summer Magazine

Plus, I JUST released the Summer 2026 issue of The Handmade Year! 🎉

It's always a process deciding which types of recipes, ingredients, and projects to include because I want them to be totally of-the-season, and I also like to work on themes.

This year, I wanted to highlight plug-and-play recipes that you could adapt with a range of different fruits or berries to make your own.

Because really, that's my dream.

Sure, I am thrilled when people try a recipe as-is and love it, but I especially enjoy it with they added some cardamom because they thought the flavor would be great with the apricots or they decided to substitute the raspberries with blackberries.

THIS is when those creative juices and confidence really come out, and my recipes just become part of the conversation.

We're also making these recipes and more:

  • Mixed berry lemonade concentrate (so good!)
  • Lemon basil salt
  • Lots of zucchini-packed treats
  • Homemade salad dressings
  • Herbal-infused oils

Anyway, if you want a bank of recipes and projects to play with this summer, this is your sign to either login to your Patreon account or come join us!

Hi, Reader, Okay, so I'm a little bit of a nosey person. I LOVE reading comments on blogs and just seeing what other people say or think. (This can be entertaining sometimes when people substitute 5 things and don't understand why the recipe failed...) But, I especially love seeing comments on my blog and these reviews all made my day. Want to see what they said? Fresh Milled Flour Pancakes "These tasted delicious! The buttermilk was the star of the show. I wasn’t paying attention to the...

Hi, Reader, After teaching myself to garden over 12 years ago, there is one type of plant I wish I'd planted earlier - fresh herbs. 🌿 I was working at a farmers market at the time, and I was way more interested in vegetables. I wanted heaps of tomatoes, zucchini, onions, and more. If I grew any herbs, it was usually basil or cilantro to use in pesto and salsa. This wasn't a bad idea in any way. I was growing what I knew I would use and enjoy! But here's the thing...herbs can shift how you use...

Hi, Reader, Happy Saturday! How has your week been? I'm exhaling a massive sigh of relief. If you've been following me for a while, you know I do vintage shows and sell antiques at two antique malls. Last week, I did my first show at The Great Junk Hunt. SO MUCH WORK. We've never refinished so much furniture and we truly pushed the limits of our abilities (maybe a little too far). The show went really well, though, and I met lots of great customers and vendors! But this week has all been...
